Hello – remember me? Looks as though it has been over four months since I last posted on our journey and that’s because it has been quite the roller coaster.
We attempted to do an all out “if you had a dream, what would it look like”. So we did…and it was beautiful. We were all ready to go and came up against one minor problem: $$$$, or lack-there-of.
Every banker we went to basically said “don’t think we’ll be able to assist, good luck” before we even hit the seat of the chair. We all know the mortgage crisis and economic instability has people a bit hesitant, yet we never anticipated it being so difficult since we were coming up with our own investor capital.
The big picture was out (for now) and we’ve had to try and improvise and at least get over in the vicinity of the Shoppes at College Hills since we realize that our demographic is there consistently.
Attempted to rent out the Pisano’s space and hit another wall. I’m a firm believer in destiny. It’s called listening to your instincts and knowing when to let go and when to push on.
Letting go of that second space (the initial was a large wing where the temporary Halloween Express is) was when the new option sang to us like a cherub choir. The shop that is there isn’t closed yet (going out of business nation wide) and I’m unaware if their employees are aware of it so I can’t say which one it is yet but I can say WHOOOWHOOOO!!!! Signing the Letter of Intent today and hold onto your britches because they’re wanting us in by November for holiday (as do we).
We’d all like to thank you for your continued support and appreciate your putting up with our we’re going here, here, no here for the past TWO YEARS!!! Good night. Yet, I’ve just been telling myself the cliche of “Nothing’s easy, but who want’s nothing” through this journey and I think we’ll be landing into the concept we were meant to have for the next chapter.
No worries though, we’ll still be able to get into our artisan cheeses, breads, patisserie, and have a glass (or bottle) of wine when you visit. A. Renee will still have the charm of its downtown store (this space actually has some character) and many more bells and whistles. The new shoppe won’t be as elaborate as the bigger concept, but as I’ve learned many times now bigger is not always better…and that banks lend money to people that don’t need it.
Cheers!
Amy
P.S. Cindy & Kim are up in Chicago at an amazing wine tasting today cherry picking some amazing wines for fall & holiday season. Yeah, must be nice. I’m home under the weather and they’re up there “working”. Tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
